Who We Are
Children and people with autism and special needs are often marginalized in society. They face discrimination and are often misunderstood and isolated. Society struggles to understand their socio-economic, physical, educational, and emotional needs. We maintain that the lives of children and people with autism and special needs cannot be divided into components and that one of their identified needs if unmet, affects the other areas in several ways. Therefore, we dream of a society where these marginalized individuals are welcomed wholeheartedly and supported.
What We Do
OUR REFERRAL PATHWAY:
Our referrals come from various individuals as well as our partners from the Social Welfare Services.
1. Once a referral is made to our service, we make an initial assessment of the needs of the child based on our key aims (Health, socioeconomic, social, and emotional needs)
2. Following the initial assessment, a priority assessment is undertaken by a panel at AUSNEF in partnership with the caregivers. From this priority assessment, a support plan is drawn detailing the areas of need, and how they would be met.
3. The support plan is then implemented and resources available are allocated to the caregivers and the children.
4. A date is agreed upon by the panel and caregivers to review how effective the support plan implementation was.

Background
The founder of AUSNEF is a parent to a child with autism and special needs and has caregiver experience of over 30 years. In addition to having experience as a caregiver, the founder has worked professionally as a nurse specialist with children and adults with autism and special needs in the UK for over 20 years, thus bringing her worth of experience, knowledge, and skill to the foundation.
